Michelle Giles-Honore joined Nirvana Healthcare Management Services in 2021 as an Advanced Practice Nurse at the Community Health Outreach Program (CHOP) location. The degrees following her name indicate the breadth and depth of her professional experience: FNP-BC, MSN, CSN, BSN, RN, and APN. Military service was with the 343rd Combat Support Hospital, where she was a US Army Reserve Operating Room Technician.
Ms. Giles-Honore’s nursing history began in 1996. She has held positions as a Medical/Surgical Staff Nurse, Nursing Coordinator, and Certified School Nurse. In 2014, she obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree, becoming an ANCC Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC: New Jersey). Specialized training includes adult health, women’s health, psychiatric health, and pediatric care.
Ms. Giles-Honore provides medical care to behavioral health patients and conducts house calls to elderly and disabled patients who cannot visit one of the NHMS locations. The Community Health Outreach Program (CHOP) makes quality healthcare more accessible to these patient populations and closes gaps, reducing stress on an overburdened system. Additional benefits include a more relaxed environment for our patients, which in turn enhances their ability to communicate and their treatment.
Michelle was particularly impressed by the collaborative efforts that occurred during the final months of 2021 when all staff members were focused on improving Covid-19 vaccination management by conducting five-day patient follow-ups after the initial diagnosis. “Our program epitomized effective, comprehensive treatment.” She describes the NHMS culture as “dynamic” because of its ongoing commitment to improving the patient experience.
