Dr. Ayme Frometa joined Nirvana Healthcare Management Services (NHMS) in late 2020. Dr. Frometa is Board-Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice medicine in Florida, New York, and New Jersey. She and her staff of eight are located at North Ward Behavioral Health (NWBH: Newark). She is a native speaker of Spanish.
Dr. Frometa had a four-year residency at Bergen Regional Medical Center (Paramus), followed by a two-year residency in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center (New York). She served as Medical Director, Child-Adolescent Outpatient Services at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, followed by four years in the Attending Psychiatry Behavioral Department of Florida Health Care Plans (Edgewater, Florida).
Professional memberships include the American Medical Association (AMA), American Psychiatric Association (APA), and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). Formal recognition includes Top Doctor—2015, 2018,2019, and 2022. Consumers research Council of America’s– top physician 2018, Top 100 registry – 2020 doctor of the year. Also, nominated for who’s who— 2021 and 2022. From 2004 to 2015, Dr. Frometa contributed research findings to numerous clinical publications and poster presentations.
In addition to the diagnosis and treatment of the spectrum of mental health disorders, Dr. Frometa’s practice comprises a robust outpatient care program, which includes ongoing assessments of symptoms, modification of treatment regimens (including medications), when required, follow-up counseling, and supervision of the NWBH staff.
Dr. Frometa loves working with her staff and helping her patients and considers the work challenging and rewarding. She is particularly grateful whenever patients tell her that she and her staff have had a positive impact on their mental health and their lives.
