Director of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM)
Luz Capcha is Director, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM). She joined Nirvana Healthcare Management Services (NHMS) immediately after graduation from college in 2011 and has worked at the 523 Park Avenue (Orange) location for more than eleven years. Ms. Capcha’s professional growth mirrors NHMS’s growth and evolution.
Ms. Capcha’s original responsibilities were medical biller and clerical coder, which entailed posting charges, processing claims, performing audits, maintaining patient charts and medical codes, data management (EMR system), and communications between insurance providers and patients.
In 2012, Luz assumed the position of Director, Revenue Cycle; in this capacity, she oversees the hiring, training, and management of a staff of thirty-five. Her department’s operations include accurate assessment of the efficacy and timeliness of all operations; streamlining revenue cycle methods; delivering RCM and coding expertise; applying team metrics to improve worker efficiency and workflow; managing IMS/Meditab and third-party vendors; applying best practices for optimal RCM/project efficacy; facilitating communications for value-based care agreements and appointments; and identifying clear boundaries between NHMS and Axial co-sourcing.
Luz’s professional certifications include Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS). She is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC); in 2021, she achieved the designation of Certified Risk Adjustment for Value-Based Payment Models from the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Luz is particularly proud of having obtained, in 2020, a medical software license (reseller) for the practice. The word she has chosen to describe her Nirvana experience is “growth” and she considers all of her associates to be “family.”
